Somewhere on my bookshelves is a slim volume entitled, Should Trees Have Standing? It came to mind as I was reading an exquisite report about the return of a single grey wolf who slipped across the border from Oregon into California and caused a stir.
Joe Donnelly writing for ORION magazine goes in search of this Lone Wolf. Along the way he explores our attitudes toward this predator and celebrate the fact that like it or not Life continues to rear its head despite all we seem to do to crush it; much like the slender green stem of a plant that pushes up through concrete seeking the sun.
To get a sense of the temperament out there, you might wish to begin by reading the diverse views and then taking those (along with your own) into the article.
For me, I hope this one lone wolf finds his mate and those standing in his way learn that Nature bats last.
